This is a hell of a rabbit hole. TIL that over half of the new car market in India (which is a fraction of the population and a fraction of the entire car market) buys cars that are under US$7,700. The cheapest new car is around US$3,600. Exchange rates are strong right now and these were much smaller numbers earlier this year.

I can’t even fathom. You can barely buy a decent used car in most of the US for these numbers. My car was about median in price and it’s over 4x the median there.
